I’m Alyssa Li, the heart behind The Veil - where I combine my love for doula support, photography, education, and intuitive healing to hold space for the sacred transformation that happens when someone gives birth.

My journey into birth work started after the arrival of my first child. After my oldest was born, I realized just how much of the birth experience is often misunderstood and undervalued. That realization sparked my drive to step in and lift the veil - to help reveal and capture the power, intuition, and transformation that birth truly holds.

I’ve been using photography to capture moments to hold for over 10 years. Over time, I’ve found that it’s the candid, raw moments that draw me in the most - the ones where emotion is almost tangible, even if they seem mundane at the time. There are countless stories woven into every one of those moments. It’s those emotions and stories I strive to document through my photography, especially when capturing the story of new life being brought into the world.

As a queer person of color and a strong advocate for reproductive justice, I strive to bring inclusivity, empathy, and empowerment into everything I do. I focus on creating a space where you can connect with your intuition, blending evidence-based care with holistic practices to uncover the deeper truths hidden in the birth process.

In digging deeper into the power of how intuition influences our lives, I found myself pulled towards energetic practices. Through years of practice, I’ve learned how to connect with energy in ways that helps me and my clients find guidance and balance. This has become a vital tool in both my day-to-day life and my work with birthing people.
